Beijing Bag - PDF Sewing Pattern

The Beijing Bag PDF sewing pattern was made special for the Swedish Quilters Associations 30th anniversary event this year! It's a bag I designed especially with quilters in mind, however, it's just as great for the non quilting bag maker. The totally smooth front and back lends itself beautifully for orphan quilt blocks, machine/hand embroidery or other decoration. Or why not use that one statement print fat quarter you've been dying to find the perfect project for?

It has a lovely teardrop shape from the side, which is sure to turn a few heads. The interior has a zipper pocket and slip pockets for all your essentials. It's just as beautiful as a crossbody bag, shoulder bag or wristlet. This pattern comes with both inch and centimeter measurements. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY

This is suitable for the beginner bagmaker, assuming basic sewing skills.

MEASUREMENTS

Finished size: ~11” (28cm) wide, ~8” (20cm) high and ~2.5” (6cm) deep at the base.

SUPPLIES NEEDED

Fabric:

18” x 22” (45x55cm) - Exterior: A fat quarter cotton, vinyl, faux leather or cork fabric. The smooth front and back also lends itself very well to using two orphan quilt blocks for exterior, these need to be at least 12” (30cm) wide and 8 ½” (22cm) high.

0.5 yards (45cm) - Lining: Cotton fabric.

2” x 56” (5x140cm) - Shoulder Strap: Desired fabric for strap (you want a longer strap for a cross body bag) or use a ready made strap or chain.

Interfacing:

12 x 17” (30x45cm) - Foam interfacing: Pellon fusible Flex­Foam, ByAnnie's Soft and Stable or similar.

1 yard (90cm) - Thin interfacing: Fusible interfacing for lining, like Vilene G700 woven fusible or Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex.

Notions:

2 - 9” (25cm) #3 zipper (or longer): One should match the exterior fabric, and one the lining fabric.

2 - ½” (1.25cm) wide D-rings.

2 - ½” (1.25cm) wide Swivel snap hooks: Only if making your own strap.

Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.

Double sided sewing tape or fabric glue.

Wonder clips.
